English summer schools in Chichester: 12-17 years
English courses in the traditional town of Chichester
Chichester is a charming city in the south of England built on the foundations of an ancient Roman-British city with many of its medieval city walls still standing. The streets’ cross-shaped layout is still visible leading visitors from the medieval market to the North, South, East, and West shopping streets. About half-way between Portsmouth and Brighton and just a two hour drive from London, Chichester is a historical city with lots of shops and cafes for visitors to enjoy.
Your English summer school is based on the University of Chichester’s Bishop Otter Campus, just a 10 minute walk from the historic city center. Imagine walking through England’s ancient streets just to grab a cup of coffee after class. Spend your summer holidays in this magical little city and don’t forget to join the numerous activities organized by our international team or venture out and use the university’s great sports facilities. And at the end of the day be wiggling your toes in the sand at Bognor Regis or West Wittering beach, each easily accessible within 15 minutes using public transportation.

English Language courses
General English Course: 15 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
Lessons normally take place from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 11:45. Each of the three morning lessons focuses on a specific area of language learning: grammar and language work, reading and listening, or communicative activities and speaking practice. Our aim is to provide you with the vocabulary and grammar required for effective communication and particular attention is paid to improving speaking and listening skills.
Intensive English Course: 20 lessons (x 45 mins) per week
The Intensive Course consists of the General English Course plus an additional lesson per day (11.45 -12.30) in which key areas of language learning are practised in more depth. If you have registered to enter the Trinity Oral Examination a specific preparation is offered in the 4th lesson.
Trinity Oral Examination
In the English speaking world there are a number of tests which measure language abilities. The Trinity Exam programme, conducted by Trinity College London since the 1880s, is a popular option for students on short term courses. Trinity Graded Examinations in Spoken English for speakers of other languages provide an internationally recognised scheme of assessment through which students can measure their language development for educational or vocational purposes. The awarded grades range from 1 (absolute beginner) to 12 (very advanced). You can take the Trinity Oral Examination in Chichester (to be booked in advance) but you have to book the Intensive Course in order to get prepared.
Exams take place on the 12th July, 19th July, 26th July, and 9th August 2013.
