Can I contact my homestay host before I arrive in Bournemouth?

Yes we will send you the details of your homestay including their email address and telephone number and you are very welcome to contact them prior to your arrival. This can be very useful for the host because you can let them know your anticipated time of arrival so that they can look forward to welcoming you to their home.

I have a special diet, will my homestay be able to cater for my needs with regard to my meals?

Yes lots of homestay hosts are very experienced at providing meals for students with special diets such as gluten free and lactose free however it is very important to make sure you mention this when you book your course with us. There will be a supplement for a special diet. Please note that homestay hosts do not provide halal food.

I have an allergy to pets, can I still stay in a homestay?

Yes you can because we have a few homestays available who do not have any pets in the home but you must mention this at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate you.

How will I know how to get to school from my homestay?

We have some homestays that are situated within walking distance of our school and some that are situated a short bus journey from school but whatever the situation your host will be very happy to show you the way to walk to school or how to reach the nearest bus stop and make sure you know the number of the bus you need to catch and where you need to get off for school. The bus stops very close to school.

Can I practice speaking English with my homestay family?

Yes you will have the opportunity to speak English with your homestay family in the evenings and especially when you have dinner with them. Our host families are very friendly and caring and they will do all they can to help you.

Will my homestay host wash my clothes during my stay with them?

Yes your host will wash your clothes once a week and will also change your bedding and towels once a week too.  If you need to wash your clothes more often you can ask your host if an extra wash is possible or if not they will show you where there is a launderette for your use.

Who will help and support me if I have a problem with my accommodation?

Shortly after your arrival our Accommodation Officer will contact you on WhatsApp so that you can send a message to her if you should have a problem with your accommodation and she will be in touch with you directly or alternatively you can meet our Accommodation Officer in person once a week in school. If you have an emergency you will be able to call the emergency number at any time.

What time will I have to vacate my homestay on departure?

You should arrange to vacate your homestay accommodation by 10.00hrs on the day of departure.

How much money will I need for daily expenses?

That really depends. Some of the socials such as bowling cost around £10. Many others are free. Refreshments (Tea, coffee and biscuits) are free at school during breaks between lessons. You may want to go out in the evenings too to visit a pub or see a show. We would say a weekly budget of £70 or so should be more than adequate.
