Frequently asked questions about activities and leisure
What opportunities are there for socialising during the academic day?
There are breaks between lessons when you can enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits. There is a garden area to sit in and relax, as well as table tennis. You will find the staff are happy to chat and socialise with you at break times too. Many friends are made on campus.
What social activities can I expect to enjoy?
We pride ourselves on a full and varied social programme. Every week we run four different activities on consecutive days, even if there are only one or two students for a particular activity. These vary from orientation walks and general discussion, to pub evenings, tenpin bowling, crazy golf, Lazer quest, museum visits, board games and so much more. We are also open to any suggestions. Social activities are a priority and a fabulous way to mix with other nationalities and improve your English while having fun.
Who is running the activities?
Our teachers are very keen on socialising with students as they realise the importance of getting to know them. To enjoy social activities is fun and it is part of the language learning process.
And what happens if there are just 1 or 2 students participating in the social programme?
Even in this case we will run the activity but may change it because of the number of participants. Bowling isn’t a great activity for two, for example, but going into a pub or cafe with a teacher can be.
Does it happen that activities do not take place?
No, never. We always find something to do.
Do you offer excursions?
Yes, but only in summer and they can be booked additionally.
What social activities are offered?
You can join the conversation club to practise English in a friendly setting. Optional activities may include town walks and social events. Most are free and voluntary but highly recommended.
