Your first day in school

When you arrive at school we give you a warm Europa welcome at 9.00am. It is important you bring your passport or your identity card and your visa if you have one, so we can take a copy. We will wait until all the new students have arrived. We will then ask you...

  • to complete a short language awareness assessment. The results are in line with the Common European Framework. This will take about 30 minutes.
  • You will then have a short tour of the school.
  • Finally, we give you a short talk concerning your lessons i.e. what we expect of you, the course rental book system, rules and regulations, social programmes, what you can buy at the school, next of kin details, emergency numbers, regular testing, tutorials and self-assessments. We will then ask you if you have any questions

It is time to take a break at about 10.45am.
At 11.15am, you are introduced to your teacher and fellow students, and begin your first lesson.

09:30 - 11:00 Lessons 1 & 2 In the morning lessons, you are provided with language input in the form of texts, audio and visual material. You work with the material to develop your communicative skills to become more fluent and accurate in the English language. To develop your accuracy, teachers focus on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. You become more aware of the structure of the language in communicative context. To develop your fluency, you are given various activities and tasks to convey messages in English either in the written or oral form.
11:00 - 11:15 Break Meet other students in our comfortable lounge.
11:15 - 12:45 Lessons 3 & 4 See lessons 1 & 2

13:45 - 14:30 Lesson 5 Afternoon lessons are based on authentic materials to prepare you for real-life situations. These are also individualised lessons, during which the teacher responds to your particular language needs. Your teacher also acts as a source of authentic linguistic and cultural input, familiarising you with aspects of genuine language and lifestyle in the UK.

We know that effective language learning depends not only on motivated teachers and good classes, but also on the comfort of students’ accommodation. Therefore we offer different types of accommodation to suit your needs. You can choose between home stay and residential accommodation.
